The Emir of Maru in Zamfara State, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari, has told Governor Bello Matawalle that 35 people were killed during an attack on five villages in his emirate.
Maigari confirmed to the governor who was on a sympathy visit that the deaths were recorded in Dutsin Gari, Asha-lafiya, Rayau, Munkuru, Mahuta and Talli villages.
The Emir told the Matawalle that the people in the affected communities are living in terrible conditions, and called on him to come to their aid.
In his response, Governor Matawalle, while commiserating with the families of the victims, promised to support the communities.
Matawalle also promised to provide adequate security in the communities.
He said, “I want to sincerely sympathize with you over the attacks and loss of your loved ones.
“I assure you that I will do everything within my powers to make sure that you go back to your respective villages.
“I will very soon send some relief materials to all of you as soon as possible.”
