The Vice-Chancellor, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof. Charles Igwe, has warned students against engaging in various forms of social vices, noting that the institution will not tolerate any form of misconduct.
Igwe noted that cultism, cybercrime popularly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’, and stealing will not be condoned by the institution.
The VC spoke during the matriculation ceremony of Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, an affiliate institution to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
At the ceremony, Igwe, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Education,Prof. Joshua Umeifekwem, added that there is no place for examination malpractice in the university.
“The University of Nigeria has zero tolerance for cultism and other nefarious activities. Anyone caught in the act will be handed over to the police for prosecution. We also abhor cybercrimes, particularly the internet crime known as ‘yahoo yahoo’. Also, there is no place for examination malpractice. So, avoid all these, to have hitch-free academic pursuit in the university, which your college is affiliated to,” he said.
Igwe stated that the institution prioritizes merit above anything else, adding that degrees are awarded on learning and character.
