A 22-year-old computer system Engineer, David Ntekim-Rex, was shot and killed by armed robbers in the Jibowu area of Lagos State on Friday.
Ntekim-Rex, who is described as a Tech Guru, made a name for himself after beating 17,000 others from around the world to win the IBM Z Academic Initiative Prize in 2018.
According to multiple reports, the late tech guru was attacked by armed robbers at the Jibowu area of Lagos State.
It is widely alleged that the police met Ntekim-Rex alive upon arrival at the scene but did not do enough to help him.
Some social media users claim the police suspected him to be an internet fraudster because he had a laptop with him when they arrived the scene of the unfortunate incident.
Others blamed Doctors on duty at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for failing to take immediate action when he was brought to the hospital.

On the David issue that happened at Jibowu.
If he wasnt in Nigeria, chances are that he will still be alive. The system failed him.
Maybe we should all start learning firstaid skills for gunshot and stabs as it is. Cos it might come in handy and save a life in this our Nigeria.

Obanikoro , Anthony was/is so hot they had to situate a permanent police checkpoint inward ilupeju. Most underpasses in Lagos are hotspots. Jibowu, Empire Under bridge and Mosalasi are high risk areas you don't want to be at night. Those ppaces are hotbeds for robbery and mugging

Anthony Underbridge, Jibowu Underbridge, Ojota Underbridge and Mile 12 Underbridge are the 4 most organized Lagos robbery points. Those places are no slow-mo zones from 7pm.
They will rob you and still stab you. Guys be very careful. 🙏

Just saw the story of David who was shot in Jibowu. I don’t know sha. But the police go kill me for ‘tampering with evidence’ there is no way I’m gonna stay there and watch the boy die because of a flimsy reason. This is just heartbreaking 💔😞

So his brother had just dropped him off the night he was robbed/killed in Jibowu? If by July, the bro posts a photo of himself in Canada captioned "Goodbye Nigeria. The evil you have done is enough", an energetic hoard of riff-raffs will fall upon him over "patriotism". RIP David

Whose local government is in charge of #Jibowu?
What efforts are made to improve security?
The Local Government Chairman and DPO in that region should be able to answer responsibility for the people who live there.#David's life matters.

The scariest thing about being a tech person in this country is the constant fear that if you are in danger, the police will profile you as a criminal. The death of David at Jibowu is heartbreaking and devastating. We should just legalize guns in this country for safety purposes
