No fewer than 39,070 passengers that arrived the country failed to pay for the coronavirus test.
This was made known on Monday by the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha at the PTF press conference in Abuja.
Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) stated that some of the travellers submitted fake documents and other information to airport officials.
The PTF had said that travellers using the country’s airports must undertake and pay for a pre and post-arrival tests.
Mustapha also revealed that some of the travellers that payed for the test failed to show up for the tests to be carried out.
He said, “It has been discovered that some of these travellers have indulged in presenting fake documents. Some that have paid for post arrival testing have failed to show up for the tests.”
According to Mustapha, while the total passengers expected to pay were 86,052 (94 per cent), those that paid were 46,982 (54.6 per cent) and those that had not paid were 39,070 (45.45 per cent).
