The Minister of Labour and Environment, Chris Ngige, has said that he is hopeful the latest offer of the government to the leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities will lead to an end to the 8-month-old strike.
Ngige, who spoke on Sunday, stated that he does not see the reason why ASUU will not accept the latest offer, insisting that everything they (ASUU) asked for has been granted.
He added that he informed ASUU leaders that “asking the nation and the students to wait from Friday to Friday is unfair.”
The minister invited the leaders of the union to a meeting on Tuesday to find out the next step to be taken.
