The National Executive of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are currently meeting at the University of Lagos to take a decision to either continue or discontinue the ongoing nationwide strike.

The meeting was necessitated by the positive outcome of Friday’s meeting where the Federal Government shifted grounds by exempting the union from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

VANTAGE NEWS reported that the FG also shifted grounds on some other issues, including the invoking of the policy of ‘no work, no pay’ that has been in place for months due to the ongoing industrial action.

In addition, FG offered to raise the Earned Allowances to university staff from N30bn to N35bn and the revitalization fund from N20bn to N25bn.

VANTAGE NEWS learnt that the meeting by ASUU leaders is expected to analyse the latest development and to decide whether to continue the strike or suspend the industrial action that the union embarked on in March.
