Bandits attack in Albasi and Maraban Kajuru villages in Kaduna State have left twelve persons dead.

The bandits attacked Albasi village in Sabon Brinin in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday and killed eleven persons while a person was killed during an attack in Maraban Kajuru village on Sunday.

According to reports, the bandits were said to have shot indiscriminately during the attack on Albasi village.

The bandits aside killing a person in Maraban Kajuru, also abducted two others.

In a related development,  the Kaduna State Government said on Monday that eight students of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, were among those kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Sunday by criminal elements suspected to be bandits.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, had in a statement said that the Vice Chancellor of ABU, Kabir Bala informed the state of the ugly development.

Various sources revealed that the incident happened when 300 students from the Department of French Language were traveling to the Nigerian French Village in Lagos for a programme.

According to multiple sources, the names of the abducted students are Okafor Chris, Ayuba Lois, John Elizabeth, Musa Precious, Asoji Faith, Badmus Jemimah, Emmanuel Simon and Aliyu Adamu.

Aruwan also confirmed bandit attack on Igabi and Kajuru LGAs of the state in the statement.

He stated that security agencies have notified the government that they are pursuing bandits in the area, adding that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has commiserated with the families that lost loved ones.

Aruwan added that troops on patrol around Chikun and Kajuru LGAs boundaries found a decomposing body of a bandit who had an AK-47 rifle and other valuables beside him.
