The reinstated Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the recommendation of the Special Visitation Panel set up to look into the crisis the rocked the university.

The VC who was welcomed by jubilant workers as he resumed office stated that he is not compiling list of the university staff for sacking.

Ogundipe said this on Thursday as he resumed at the Senate Building of the university.

He was sacked on August 12 by the governing council of the university led by Wale Babalakin over alleged abuse of office and high-handedness.

Buhari reinstated him on November 10 after a report by the Special Visitation Panel recommended so following weeks of investigations.

Ogundipe called on the university staff to be committed and united in the collective quest to move the institution forward.

“Our commitment must be in moving this university forward and we must unite. Some people are saying that I have a list of people I want to sack and punish. I have no such list. I do not have any list of anyone to be sacked; I have not seen any list. Let’s work together and move the university forward. You have invested years of your lives into this university. It is not about academic or non-academic staff, it is about moving the university forward,” he said.

Ogundipe, who noted that his reinstatement was divine, also thanked the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the former acting VC, Folasade Ogunsola whom he described as reliable and honest.

Ogunsola, in her handover speech stated that the return of the VC calls for introspection, adding that nobody can de-brand UNILAG because the institution is bigger than everyone.
