A Nigerian man, Onuorah Jideoffor, has been arrested by the Police in Delhi, India, over an alleged N2.6 million Facebook scam.

Onuorah, 28, was arrested on Wednesday at Mohan Garden following the combined effort of the Delhi police and Goa crime branch in India.

According to reports, the Nigerian duped a man of over Rs 5 lakh which amounts to N2.6 million after pretending to be paying custom charges for a gift he claimed to be getting for the Indian victim.

VANTAGE NEWS learnt that the victim met Onuorah who had used the fictitious name Steve Jose on Facebook.

Onuorah promised to send him a costly gift from his base abroad but asked the victim to deposit Rs 5.16 lakhs in fraudulent accounts before he could get the gift.

The victim upon realising that he has been duped, lodged a complaint to the police on November 6.

It opened up investigations that eventually led to the arrest of the Nigerian.
