The reinstated Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has resumed work.

Ogundipe was reinstated by President Muhammadu Buhari after being asked to vacate office over allegations of infractions and abuse of office to allow for smooth investigation into the crisis between him and the now former Chairman of the Governing Council, Wale Babalakin.

Some staff of the university were on ground at the Senate building on Thursday to receive Ogundipe as he returned to the office he temporarily vacated months ago.

Ogundipe while addressing the staff called for unity, asking all members of staff to work together and allow peace in the institution.

He said, “Let us all be united. It is not about the academic or non-academic staff; it is about UNILAG. Let us all work together and allow peace in this institution.”

According to the report submitted by the Special Visitation Panel constituted by Buhari to look into the crisis, Babalakin and the council did not follow due process in the removal of Ogundipe.

It thus requested for the immediate reinstatement of Ogundipe which was approved by Buhari.

Buhari approved the reinstatement of Ogundipe because his removal by the Governing Council did not follow due process.
