The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has praised the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for convicting 6 Nigerians alleged to be financial sponsors of Boko Haram.
Zulum stated this through a statement issued by his spokesman, Isa Gusau, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
He said that he was happy that there appears to be finally a headway in tracking the financiers of the dreaded terrorist group since its emergence 11 years ago.
Zulum, who lamented that Boko Haram has killed thousands, displaced many and destroyed properties worth billions, added that such intelligence by the UAE should be employed to fish out sponsors of the group within and outside Nigeria.
The governor also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to set up a multi-stakeholder committee whose members should be drawn from Ministries of Justice, and Foreign Affairs, National Intelligence Agency, Defence Intelligence Agency, the Multinational Joint Task Force, ECOWAS, among others to follow up on the UAE findings.
