The Hisbah board of Kano State has destroyed 1,975,000 bottles of beer reportedly worth over N200 million.
According to reports, Hisbah confiscated the bottles of beer within Kano metropolis over a period of time.
The bottles of beer were destroyed by Hisbah at Kalebawa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state under the supervision of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was represented by his Deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Vanguard reports.
While speaking at the destruction event, Gawuna said that consumption of beer has been banned in all parts of the state.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hassan Musa Fagge in a statement quoted Ganduje as saying that the Hisbah Board was established to fight against evil social acts in the state.
He further stated that the administration of Ganduje is proud of the way Hisbah discharges its duties, urging them to continue while soliciting for the people’s support.
The Commander General, Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Ibn Sina, in his remark, said that the board got a court order to destroy over 20 trucks of alcohol worth over N200 million.
