The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday, recorded 300 new COVID-19 cases in the country.

Lagos had the highest number of cases with 255 while FCT, Oyo, Kaduna, Ondo and Kano had 27, 10, 5, 2, and 1 respectively.

NCDC has warned on several occasions about the possibility of a second wave of infection in the country.

In the past week, except Saturday that the country recorded 59 cases due to very low testing, the other days witnessed a significant rise in cases.

There were 72 recorded cases on Monday; 137 on Tuesday; 155 on Wednesday; 180 on Thursday and 223 on Friday.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha had warned that the nationwide #EndSARS protests may lead to spread of the novel Coronavirus disease.

President Muhammadu Buhari also warned that the country may face another lockdown due to rise in the number of cases.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, had also stated that the second wave of COVID-19 infections in Europe and America should be of a great concern to Nigeria.

Ehanire warned that the failure of Nigerians to adhere to COVID-19 protocols, the reopening of schools and the high traffic of Nigerians to the countries experiencing second wave could lead to a second wave of infections in the country.

Currently, Nigeria has 64,090 confirmed. A total of 59,910 has been treated and discharged  while 1,154 deaths have been recorded.
