The Catholic Bishop of Nsukka diocese, Godfrey Onah, in a recorded sermon, called for changes to the way the country is governed.

He stated categorically that the demand by the Northern Governors for the now defunct Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) not to be banned is an indication that the country cannot continue to be governed as if “we are all the same in everything.”

Bishop Onah also stated that it is sad that Muslims find it easy to acquire lands everywhere in Nigeria while Christians find it difficult to do same in the country, especially in the North.

He said that there must be some form of decentralization of governance if Nigeria is to move forward.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, and the Department of State Services, over the message, alleging that the Bishop instigated the recent attacks on Muslims in the South-East and South-South regions.

In the petition, NSCIA told the IGP that it possessed evidence that indicted the Catholic Bishop in last Saturday’s attack on Muslims in the university town of Nsukka, Enugu State.

The Muslim body, alleged that some Christian extremists attacked Muslims in Nsukka and burnt their Mosque following a sermon delivered by Bishop Onah.
