26 Prisoners Escaped In Warri Jailbreak - Deputy Controller - Vantage News Nigeria

The Deputy Controller of the Warri Correctional Centre, Okonkwo Adimabua, has said that twenty-six inmates escaped from the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Warri, Delta State, when hoodlums that hijacked the #EndSARS protest attacked the facility.

According to him, the 26 inmates fled the facility following the destruction of part of the correctional centre.

He said that the destruction of the facility aided the escape of 26 out of 1,007 inmates in the facility before the intervention of security operatives.

Adimabua said this on Tuesday during the inspection of the burnt section of the centre by the state Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro.

On his part, Otuaro, who lamented over the large scale destruction of facilities at the centre that was built a long time ago, appreciated the officers in the facility for their resilience and display of professionalism in preventing a full blown jailbreak.
