The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
Akeredolu defeated his closes rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyitayo Jegede by a margin of 99,254 votes.
The Governor polled a total of APC 292,839 votes while Jegede and the PDP got 193,585 votes.
The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi came a distant third with 69,137 votes.
Akeredolu won in 15 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state namely: Akoko North East, Akoko North West, Akoko South East, Akoko South West, Idanre, Ileoluji/Okeigbo, Irele, Ondo East, Owo, Okitipupa, Ose, Ondo West, Odigbo, Ilaje and Ese-Odo.
Jegede won in Akure North, Akure South and Ifedore, while Agboola of ZLP failed to win any LGA.
