Saraki, Keyamo Caution Against Harassment, Intimidation Of #EndSARS Protesters - Vantage News Nigeria

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has frowned at the intimidation and “high handedness” of the police towards youths protesting against harassment and extra judicial killings by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

Saraki, who made the statement through his official twitter handle on Friday, called on President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to engage the youths on matters concerning their wellbeing.

He said, “The reports of the aggression meted out to young Nigerians protesting the high handedness of rogue units of @PoliceNG are deeply disturbing. Leaders of our nation ought to listen to and engage with our youth on matters concerning their wellbeing. I hope this approach changes soon.”

Similarly, the Minister of State, Labour & Employment, Festus Keyamo through a tweet via his verified twitter handle said its democratic for people to express their grievances through protest.

He called on relevant authorities to allow the peaceful protesters exercise their civic duty without inhibitions.

“Peaceful protests by citizens to ventilate their frustrations is part of democratic culture. They MUST be allowed to do this without inhibitions. That culture also requires that citizens be willing to sit down after the protests to have some reasonable conversation on the issues,” he said.
