Africa’s only remaining candidate for the World Trade Organisation’s Director-General position, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has appreciated members of the organisation for their support of her candidacy.
She also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, all Nigerians and her friends for standing by her.
Okonjo-Iweala, who sent the appreciation message through her verified twitter handle on Thursday, added that the race for the position continues.
She said, “Happy to be in the final round of the @wto DG campaign. Thanks, WTO members for your continued support of my candidacy. I could not have made it without the prayers and support of all Nigerians and friends around the world. Thank you @MBuhari and all my friends. Aluta continua!”
VANTAGE NEWS reported that Okonjo-Iweala emerged as one of the two candidates the World Trade Organization members selected to advance to the final round in the race to lead the Geneva-based trade body.
To battle it out with the two-time former Nigeria’s finance minister at this final stage is South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee.
