1. Nigeria @60: Southern, Middle Belt Leaders Blast Buhari’s Speech, Say It’s Uninspiring

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Independence Day anniversary speech on Thursday has been criticised by the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum who compared it with “the tale full of sound and fury signifying nothing.” According to the organisation, Buhari would have made sense if he had used the opportunity to outline the process of reconstituting Nigeria to return it to the path of productivity, autonomy for the federating units and sustainable peace and development.

2. It Makes No Sense For Oil To Be Cheaper In Nigeria Than Saudi Arabia – Buhari

The President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria don’t have to sell petroleum products at prices lower than those sold in neighbouring countries because it makes no sense. He stated this on Thursday morning while delivering a speech on the occasion of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary at Aso Villa, Abuja.

While the government and people of Nigeria are celebrating the country’s 60 years of independence, some citizens have taken to the streets of Abuja the nations capital, protesting what they call ‘poor governance.’ The agrieved citizens stormed Area 1, Garki; US Embassy; Life Camp; Jabi; Kuje; Kwali; Kubwa; Lugbe and among others places.

4. Buhari Has Not Kept To His Electoral Promises, Catholic Bishops Say

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) on Wednesday took a swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for not fulfilling campaign promises made to Nigerians. It wondered how Nigerians can conveniently celebrate the 60th independence anniversary amidst the poor economy, huge borrowings with so much interest to be paid back, and insecurity presently being witnessed in the Buhari’s administration.

5. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Reveals When Nigeria Ended As A Country

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that Nigeria had long ago ceased to be a country. Kanu, on a day Nigeria is celebrating her 60th Independence Day, stated that the country ended when it was allegedly restructured to the advantage of one part.

6. [email protected]: Ohanaeze Disappointed With Buhari, Says Independence Speech Hollow And Empty

Ohanaeze Ndigbo. The apex Igbo socio-cultural group in Nigeria has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s 60th-anniversary speech as hollow, empty, and disappointing. The Igbo group while questioning the feasibility of a peaceful coexistence, insists the presidents speech was in fact an insult on the sensibilities of Nigerians.

7. Ondo 2020: Ten Political Parties In Moves To Adopt Consensus Candidate

Some political parties in Ondo state under the aegis of Conference of Independent National Electoral Commission Registered Political Parties (CIRPP) are making serious moves to adopt a consensus candidate for the governorship election come October 10. CIRPP claims the best of the candidate would be adopted.

8. ASUU Insists On Adoption Of UTAS Against IPPIS To End Strike

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged the federal government to adopt the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) in the country. 9. 30 #RevolutionNow Protesters Arrested In Lagos

Hundreds of protesters on Thursday hit the streets of Lagos to express their displeasure against bad governance in Nigeria. The protesters, who marched from the streets of Ojota to Maryland in Lagos are joining the call by the RevolutionNow convener, Yele Sowore, for Nigerians to hit the streets in protest of bad governance.

10. Nigeria Target Saka Finally Gets England Call-up

England have included Bukayo Saka in its squad for their upcoming games against Wales, Belgium and Denmark. The Three Lions will square up with the Welsh side in a friendly at Wembley on October 8 before taking on the Red Devils and the Danish team in Nations League encounters.
