The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the commencement of investigation into the arrest of 11 suspected oil thieves.

EFCC made this known through a statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity in the state, Wilson Uwujaren.

According to the statement, the suspected oil bunkerers were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Bonny and handed over to the EFCC on Monday, September 28, 2020 for interrogation and investigation.

EFCC gave the names of the suspects as Asuquo James; Indongesit Mfon; Samuel Bassey; Blessed Bassey; Victor Attah; Edet Okon; Nse Okon; Innocent Effiong; Njok Okon, Effiong Asuquo and Uduak Asuquo.

The Navy arrested the suspects on September 22, 2020, alongside 320 drums of petroleum product suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel).

Uwujaren, who stated that thorough investiagtion will be carried out, added that the EFCC is happy and satisfied over the good working relationship and understanding that exists between the commission and the Nigerian Navy.
