According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected cultists allegedly shot a 16-year-old boy, Onome Iduru, during a procession organised in honour of their recently deceased member.

He also said that the cultists took away the boys phone after shooting him in the stomach and unleashed terror on the community.

Oyeyemi added that the Divisional Police Officer of Ogijo Division, CSP Muhammed Suleiman, led his men to the scene, where eight members of the violent group were arrested after serious encounter with the policemen.

He added that a banner designed with the group’s insignia to announce the death of their member was recovered from by the police.

The police image maker stated that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He appealed to parents to warn their children not to belong to any unlawful society and also cautioned groups and individuals to desist from activities that will undermine the peace of the state, noting that the police will not tolerate such.
