The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, again came under attack by suspected Boko Haram jihadists on his way out of Baga on Sunday.
Zulum’s convoy had departed Baga at about 10:30 after a two-day visit to receive indigenes of the town back home after 21 months in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp.
According to reports, the Governors convoy came under attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters few kilometres away from Baga.
Military officers that escorted Zulum fire back at the assailants and successfully repelled the attack.
The latest attack comes barely 48 hours after Zulum’s convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram fighters between Monguno and Baga areas of the state, leaving 30 persons, including soldiers, police officers, members of Civilian Joint Task Force, and civilians dead.
