President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum which led to the death of 30 security operatives and civilians on Friday.
VANTAGE NEWS reported that Zulum, was said to have left the State capital, Maiduguri, for Baga with soldiers, police officers and personnel of Civilian Joint Task Force for the town of Baga for a planned return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to the town from Maiduguri when the attack happened.
Buhari, through the statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, advised Governor Zulum to remain firm, assuring that his government remains committed to restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
In the statement titled, “President Buhari condemns attack on Governor Zulum’s convoy, mourns security men,” Buhari urged security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to check sabotage, sanitize the roads, venues and locations well in advance of returning IDPs.
Buhari, commiserated with the families of those that lost their lives while trying to repel the attack.
He also commended the sincere determination of Governor Zulum, whom he said has been working with armed forces to end the menace of terrorists, rebuild homes and return IDPs to regular life.
