Boko Haram jihadists, on Friday, attacked the convoy of the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, killing 30 persons.

It was earlier reported that the attack led to the death of 15 persons but sources told AFP that the number has doubled as more bodies were found.

According to the report, the attack which occurred between Monguno and Baga areas of the state left mainly security personnel comprising twelve police men, five soldiers and four Civilian Joint Task Force, and nine civilians  dead.

Zulum, was said to have left the State capital, Maiduguri, for Baga with soldiers, police officers and personnel of Civilian Joint Task Force for the town of Baga for a planned return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to the town from Maiduguri.

This is the second time the insurgents will attack the convoy of the Governor in less than two months.

VANTAGE NEWS reported that the convoy of Zulum came under Boko Haram terrorists fire while visiting Baga to distribute Palliatives to IDPs in the area in July.
