The Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has warned the organised labour against embarking on strike.

The Governors stated that embarking on industrial action will worsen the already bad economy in the face of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In a communique issued on Friday, the NGF Vice Chairman and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, argued that it will be economically catastrophic to embark on strike at this time.

He suggested that the government makes arrangement to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal and increment in electricity tariff.

The organised labour is planning to embark on a nationwide strike over the recent hike in fuel price, and electricity tariff by the Federal Government.

Despite a court order restraining the unions from embarking on the industrial action, the various groups have vowed not to back down.

On Friday, VANTAGE NEWS reported that the National Union of Air Transport Employees, National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria and the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals said they will join the planned strike by the Organised Labour.
