Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has debunked rumour that it has called off its six month strike.

Speculations has been rife on social media that the umbrella union for public university lecturers in Nigeria will finally resume work.

But it appears nothing of such is the case, according to report by the Vanguard.

The paper quoted the Chairman of the University of Lagos, UNILAG chapter of the union, Dr Dele Ashiru as saying that nothing of such happened.

Ashiru, who is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the union, said the union was still on strike.

“If we are going to call off our going strike, there is process that will be followed and nothing of such has been done, ” he said.

Recall that ASUU embarked on strike early March following alleged failure of Federal Government to implement past agreements with the union among other issues.
