British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has dashed the hope of English Premier League fans by halting plans to readmit supporters to stadiums from October 1.
This comes as a result of the rise in the number of Corona virus cases in the United Kingdom.
Johnson introduced a raft of new restrictions to try and stop the spread of Covid-19 in the UK, saying it is now focusing on a six-month window across the winter months.
Fans of the Premier League haven’t been allowed in stadiums since the league was suspended in March over rising cases of Covid-19.
However, test events have been held recent weeks in the Championship, League One and League Two with 1,000 fans in attendance.
Following the development, the Premier League through a statement, says it “will continue to work with government to bring supporters safely back into grounds as soon as possible.”
