The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described last Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State as free and fair, conceding defeat in the process to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Godwin Obaseki.
APC in a statement issued by the Chairman of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, described the election as a victory for democracy in the country.
The statement titled, “Edo State Governorship Election: Victory for Democracy,” commended the President, Muhammadu Buhari in what it described as his “commitment to free and fair elections in order to strengthen the foundation for our political and moral authority.”
Buni also congratulated the victor, Governor Godwin Obaseki on his re-election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, and all political parties that contested the election for the peaceful conduct of the poll.
