A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, for allegedly disrespecting the Oni of Ife.
Tinubu was seen sitting to greet the revered Yoruba traditional monarch in a recent function attended by both.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode in a post on his social media handles, blasted Tinubu, saying that his refusal to stand up and greet the Oni speaks volumes.
“That the Asiwaju of Bourdillon refused to stand up to greet the Ooni of Ife speaks volumes.
“This was not only deeply insulting to every Ife and indeed son and daughter of Odua but it is also a crying shame.
“Would a northern political leader refuse to stand up for his traditional ruler?”
The Oni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is the spiritual leader of the Yoruba people now saddled with the responsibility of making supplications to God and the “Orisha” Òrìṣà on behalf of his tribe and the world at large during annual festivals such as Olojo.
