Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has reportedly changed his mind on leaving the club to Manchester City this summer with the backing of his father and lawyers.
According to Footy Accumulators via cuatro, the Argentine’s new plan would be to bet on his continuity in the team but only for one more season, until June 2021.
It is understood that Messi thinks it would be great to be able to say goodbye to the fans, who will presumably already be able to enter the Camp Nou after the capacity restrictions. In 2021, Messi could join Manchester City on a free deal.
Messi notified Barcelona last week that he intends to walk away from the club by exercising a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free at the end of each season.
However, the Catalan club insisted that the clause has expired and the only way Messi will be allowed to leave is if his €700m release clause is paid in full.
